Kellie Hart has always dreamed of becoming a nurse, though she sometimes questioned whether it was possible. With the support of VFA Learning and her unwavering determination, she has every reason to believe in herself. Kellie is celebrating a major milestone—securing a highly sought-after graduate year at The Geelong Clinic. Only one position is awarded each year, and we couldn’t be prouder of her. Her excitement is both apparent and well-deserved.
“Achieving a grad year at The Geelong Clinic means more than words can explain! It’s a goal I only hoped to achieve.”
A consistent trend is family members and friends completing our courses together or one after the other. Kellie’s experience was no exception. One of the highlights of her time at VFA was studying alongside her sister-in-law, Melissa Hart. Reflecting on her journey, Kellie says having a family member to share the experience with was incredible. They laughed until they cried, shared anxiety and stress, motivated each other, and made the process more enjoyable.
Before Kellie came to VFA to study the Diploma of Nursing, she worked in aged care alongside Nursing Trainer Julie Rock. Her prior experience in aged care was crucial during her studies, as the skills she developed in patient care, administering medication, and effective communication proved invaluable during her placements. Kellie was able to understand patients’ needs, provide respectful care, and gain their trust.
“The confidence and knowledge I gained, the friendships I made, and the opportunity to secure a grad year—it all comes back to the amazing support from the nurses and staff at VFA. It wasn’t always easy, but I wouldn’t change a thing.”
