Nathan’s story: from farm to massage table

Nathan Wilson is a keen sportsman. Coming from a sporting background, he had experienced his fair share of injuries and niggles – and trips to sports medicine facilities to fix them. While he was receiving treatment, he would ask the staff questions about a career in sports medicine.

His interest in treating and preventing injuries grew, and that’s when he swapped the farm for the classroom to study a Diploma of Remedial Massage HLT52015 at VFA Learning.

It was easy for the Geelong local to choose VFA because of their excellent reputation, convenient location, and good facilities.

“VFA was great fun and supportive place to learn. The longer I am in the industry, the more I realise just how good the course and VFA staff were. It really did get us industry-ready.”

Nathan says the highlights of the course were learning from industry leaders and the friendly and supportive learning environment.

“It was great to learn in person from Trainer Gerry Sedgman. He taught the course through practical case studies and demonstrations on actual clients giving us industry-ready experience. Also, it was fun working collaboratively with fellow students improving our hands-on skills and sharing knowledge and laughs to excellent music playlists.”

In December 2020, Nathan completed the course. His skills and confidence have not gone unnoticed in the industry as he has gone on to win the prestigious Athol Robinson Award. The award aims to assist the recipient in all aspects of business, technical and practical skills, and future development within their first 12 months of practice.

There are big things ahead for Nathan, and we are proud to have him as a VFA alum. Want to kickstart your career in massage? Enrol here >> https://bit.ly/38ZAGYx
