VFA trainees meet PM Albanese in Geelong

By June 17, 2024No Comments

Our Individual and Education Support trainees and staff members had the incredible opportunity to meet and speak with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during his visit to Geelong last week.

Accompanied by our BDM Jo and Education Support Trainer Kerri, our students attended an event at the Flying Brick Cider Co. alongside representatives from other VET and TAFE providers and students.

Mr Albanese’s visit coincided with a significant announcement by federal member for Corangamite, Libby Coker MP, regarding the rollout of 300,000 VET and TAFE placements from 2024 to 2026. This initiative follows a substantial $414.1 million commitment from the Commonwealth and state territory governments to support fee-free education.

Libby Coker expressed her enthusiasm for the positive impact and what it will mean for the region.

“I’m delighted we are rolling out a further 300,000 Fee-Free TAFE and VET places in 2024, providing cost-of-living support for Australians choosing to study in priority and skills-need areas.”

We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for making the most of this rare opportunity. We look forward to the positive impact these new placements will have on addressing the current skill shortages to meet the growing demands of our communities and industries.

Many thanks to our traineeship students:
